I'm looking for a competent crew position after Oct. 2024
I will be in New Zealand but I am open to other ports of departure.
I just spent four months sailing from Panama, the Galapagos, Marquesas, Tuamotus, Tahiti, Fiji and New Zealand.
I’m retired and seeking interesting long-term positions on private yacht
I recently crewed short-handed from Panama on a Solaris 50 with 2 kids aboard.
Before that I was in Panama working on the electric propulsion conversion of a 47' catamaran.
Last fall, I crewed 1,200mi double-handed on an Oyster 56, from Port Townsend, WA to Ventura, CA
(Please look at captains’ recommendations below)!
No longer a spring chicken, I still have plenty of spring in my gait! I am potty-trained, hardly ever drink and don't smoke. I live a very healthy lifestyle and am fit.
I’m very attentive, disciplined, organized, competent, responsible, communicative, trustworthy, mechanically savvy, a good cook and a good host when visitors step aboard. You can leave me in care of your boat when you go to shore, or for an extended land trip, and your vessel will be well cared for and safe.
Having run many service enterprises, and a nonprofit, for 40 years, I’m comfortable with a wide array of people.
I enjoy doing repairs/maintenance on boats (my father was a mechanic).
While crewing, I’m looking for in-depth knowledge in navigation, sailing, weather and diesel maintenance.
I raced sailing dinghies in my youth (470, Finn) and fished commercially in Alaska for 5 seasons, twice taking boats from Seattle to the Bering Sea.
I am familiar with being on boats, sharing tight quarters, and being responsible and safe.
I am free to go anytime, anywhere, and hold two valid passports.
I wouldn't mind being on a boat with kids, or a boat doing education/service.
CV available upon request.
