Dear Shipmates

Introduction

Ahoy!
Currently C*vid settled in California near Sacramento.

I am coming back to France/Europe this summer and staying until December to set sail from the Canaries to New Zealand with my favorite captain!

How about some sailing together in the Med?

Cheers
Perrine

Experience:
=========
2015, Copenhagen, DK.
2 months restoring a 85ft and 82 yo wooden sailboat. Day sailing.

March 2016, Stewart Island, NZ. 45ft S/V.
2 trips with Kiwi skipper Arthur: we took students out in the wilderness for a full week.
Took the Day Skipper course with students aged 16-22.

July 2016, Moorea, French Polynesia. 30ft S/V.
2 weeks with Canadian skipper Frank. I helped with restoration work (sanding, epoxy, painting, electric repairs), cleaning and provisioning.

July-Aug. 2017, Baltic sea, 31ft S/V.
2 months/1600 nm with Swedish skipper Bosse.

Sept-Oct. 2017, Mediterranean Sea. 40 ft S/V.
4 weeks/750 nm with English skipper Howard from Gibraltar to Menorca.

Oct. 2017, 45 ft S/V.
3 weeks/750 mm, from Málaga to Lanzarote with French capitaine Jean-Lou.

Nov. 2017, 39 ft S/V.
2 weeks/1075 nm, Galicia straight across to Madeira and La Graciosa with French Capitaine José and my partner Nate.

Jan. 2018, 35ft S/V
[Atlantic Crossing] Gran Canaria to Barbados via Cape Verde with Canadian Captain Brian and partner Nate.
Pure bliss! It took us 15 days on the 2nd leg. We handsteered most of the time which was fun! 2950 nm.

June-Sept. 2018. Sailing again with Howard from Menorca to Portugal, the Azores, Galicia, to Cornwall and Devon!

I quit my job in April 2015 to live more with less so from now on, I travel around with a 35L backpack (all seasons!), filling my life with stories instead of stuff.

No more fast holiday where I don't truly meet locals, no more routine consuming my time instead of learning new things and going for my dreams... like sailing across oceans!

I've spent a full year in New Zealand where I first was an au pair (three boys aged 8, 6 and 4) and then learnt beekeeping, milked cows, shore sheep, drove tractors, sailed with teenagers, painted, remodeled a house, helped in a restaurant, did forestry work, was invited to fly to the Milford sound, hiked alone for 6 weeks, looked after a cottage and animals to name a few!

I am now a married life & business coach and writer, currently editing my first memoir in French!
In 2019, my husband and I built solar ebikes and cycled around the Alps (it’s called The Sun Trip), in 2020 we canceled our Pacific Crest Trail thru-hike and made it happen in 2021. 2653 miles on foot from the Mexican border to the Canadian border of the US!

Can’t wait to meet you and hear your stories!!

My motivation and reasons to crew on a boat

visit remote placesseek adventurefulfill a dreamface challengesgain experiencelive off the gridsustainable travel

I am the adventurous type, always up to explore an area or new activities.
I am fascinated by nature, I love hiking, kayaking, cycling, sunrises, sunsets, starry nights, the moon, the open ocean, the wind, wave spray, drizzle (I grew up in Normandy!)
Ah, and of course, jumping overboard for a morning/midnight/anytime swim!

I wanted to sail across the Atlantic ocean because slow travel brings such a stronger connection with nature and the landscapes you go through... I love crossings and overnight sailing for the simplicity of the elements: no land, only waves, winds, clouds silence, rare birds and mammals for miles!
And when land is in sight I might think "Great! We are almost there... but do I really want to get back to civilization?!"

I like exploring different regions / seas because each one is technically, visually, culturally different... and new!
I love platforms like HelpX and Findacrew because you come across very different people, boats, environments and learn so much. Not only the sailing skills by practicing but also the attitude and the stories they share.

And I am fascinated by boats and how men and women conquered oceans back in the days!!
Among my favourite books:
- 20000 leagues under the seas
- time on ice
- si loin du monde
- the Message of the Clouds

I absolutely loved trekking in Morocco. Those two weeks made me want to experience another type of desert and de/reconnection: the blue ocean! Slowly, silently and then the wind peaks and you feel so little. Human. Alive!

I am a very social, easy-going, grateful, energetic and smily person :)
And I also need solo/silent time to take a nap, read, write, draw and improve my photography skills.

I like to spend time around career switchers who left their stressful lives to live a more meaningful life and I'm seriously considering living in a small community and/or off the grid. My partner and I both consider it's a wonderful thing to raise kids on a sailboat...
