I am the adventurous type, always up to explore an area or new activities.
I am fascinated by nature, I love hiking, kayaking, cycling, sunrises, sunsets, starry nights, the moon, the open ocean, the wind, wave spray, drizzle (I grew up in Normandy!)
Ah, and of course, jumping overboard for a morning/midnight/anytime swim!
I wanted to sail across the Atlantic ocean because slow travel brings such a stronger connection with nature and the landscapes you go through... I love crossings and overnight sailing for the simplicity of the elements: no land, only waves, winds, clouds silence, rare birds and mammals for miles!
And when land is in sight I might think "Great! We are almost there... but do I really want to get back to civilization?!"
I like exploring different regions / seas because each one is technically, visually, culturally different... and new!
I love platforms like HelpX and Findacrew because you come across very different people, boats, environments and learn so much. Not only the sailing skills by practicing but also the attitude and the stories they share.
And I am fascinated by boats and how men and women conquered oceans back in the days!!
Among my favourite books:
- 20000 leagues under the seas
- time on ice
- si loin du monde
- the Message of the Clouds
I absolutely loved trekking in Morocco. Those two weeks made me want to experience another type of desert and de/reconnection: the blue ocean! Slowly, silently and then the wind peaks and you feel so little. Human. Alive!
I am a very social, easy-going, grateful, energetic and smily person :)
And I also need solo/silent time to take a nap, read, write, draw and improve my photography skills.
I like to spend time around career switchers who left their stressful lives to live a more meaningful life and I'm seriously considering living in a small community and/or off the grid. My partner and I both consider it's a wonderful thing to raise kids on a sailboat...
