I am Geoff, British, living in Australia. I am self employed and a fit 65 year old. I have done a fair amount of sailing in the past and have the RYA Offshore yachting quaiification. More recently I have sailed for 3 weeks down the east coast of Sabah as crew, from Phuket to Lankkawi and from there to Singapore then up to the Tioman group of islands, and for long weekends off the coast of West Australia from Perth. I have just crewed on a 37 ft cat from Sydney to Brisbane (April 2016). I have also been part of a delivery crew for a 47 foot racing yacht from Perth to Tasmania. Unfortunately unfinished as the yacht was dismasted on day 2! Picture attached. I also fish from my small runabout based in Perth. I am married with a son at university and have decided that this is the time for me to go back to doing some of the things I have really enjoyed during my life to date.
I have crewed through Find a Crew on a 40ft ketch called Gadfly, off the coast of Sabah with lots of island stops and sailing experiences. The captain, Trevor, was kind enough to provide me with a reference which you can read on this site. I also have a reference from the skipper of sailing cat Smiley, for whom I have just completed crewing.

My career has enabled me to live in about 12 different countries, mainly in Asia and I have acquired reasonable competency in a few languages, which could be of use. I know my way around a sailing vessel, but would by no means claim expert status. I dont get seasick and am quite capable of getting a simple meal together in the galley. If fish are around I can usually catch them and then clean and cook them.!

I am looking for a relativley short term commitment in the first instance (say up to a month) and I am willing to join the vessel anywhere within reason. I would be happy to share expenses in what I undersatnd is the normal manner for crew positions of this kind. Should the trip go well i would hope to be able to extend the period of crewing or rejoin the boat at a mutiually agreed time

Should you be looking for a couple I might be able to ask my wife to join as well. She is not an experienced sailor but is a fantastic cook. She is Malaysian.
