Dear Shipmates

Introduction

I am a farmer beguiled by academia from which I retired. Rather than continue to pay rent I bought a sturdy and safe motor sailor for the current adventure. I live in British Columbia and I'm in the process of sailing the boat to the West Coast. The present plan is to leave Valleyfield when the locks open and be in Nova Scotia for the end of hurricane season. The main flaw in the plan is the skipper is not a young man who spent far too many years smoking so I need help with the physicality of sailing. While not in a rush (haste and schedules are not safe at sea) I wish to set sail within a couple of days of a crewmate arriving. On a personal level I like to think of myself as easy going but who doesn't?

About the boat, the plans, and current crew

very safelive on little money

I wouldn't say the boat is unsinkable (remember the Titanic) but it is tougher than the skipper or any crew who sails on her. On the other hand, it has few luxuries -- a two burner Force 10 stove, manual head, 20 gal. fresh water storage, and requisite nautical equipment.
