Dear Shipmates

Introduction

Update!
***********
We are now in Canada. We did a part of the Sail Malaysia Passage to the east up until Tioman then we went to Redang and the Anambas. We rounded Singapore again and we are on our way to Pangkor. We currently need no crew but who knows later when we cross the Indian Ocean!

Hi Everyone I am Patrick, nice to meet you!

I sold it all and my boat is now my home and way of life for the foreseeable future!
I want to be exploring the world at a humane pace - slowly - escaping the stress and shallow of the "normal" life! It will soon be the beginning of the adventure and I think shared happiness is real happiness! Join me! 🙃

My boat is not one of these luxury floating plastic condo you might have come to think about Catamarans :)
If fact for a long time when searching for "my" boat every time I would see a Wharram I would quickly flip to the next one dismissing it and thinking something like "this is not serious"... Until one day someone I deeply respect told me "Pat, have you checked on the Wharram?" And then it all started with this boat - browse below to know more about it all!

Till then I wish you fair winds and happiness for 2024!

About me:

I will be blunt, I am no old salt that has been sailing all his life. I am in learning mode - this will be my first experience with a Catamaran!! I have an RYA Coastal Yachtmaster and I crossed the Pacific Ocean as Experienced Crew from Panama to French Polynesia. So yes, I will absolutely not pretend I know everything for sure but I had good training, I am super cautious and I love the ocean.

Oh and I have an Telecom engineering background and I am also a PADI Dive instructor with a level 2 Aida freediving :)
I dream of spearfishing dinner!

About the Boat: I suggest you do some research on Wharrams, mine is a Tiki 38 - It was professionally built by a famous yard in NZ and of course it was certified Cat1 by NZ Coast Guards.

If you made it to here, good! The goal now is to screen and build a bank of crew for the coming months/year. I cant wait to go back to Malaysia and prep the boat again for.mkre adventuresa :D

What is expected of the crew

I am a strong believer that to learn one must do - and the best way to enable empowerment is to have a teaching/learning mindset 100% of the time when it's possible - no screaming rule in effect - :)

I have a good sense of humour (...so I have been told!), I like things clean and ordered. I don't like bad vibes and on a boat this always happens with everything that is not spoken! So be absolutely ready for that kind of super nice and friendly team feeling - but also be ready for real bi-directional communication so we return to that super nice and friendly team feeling in absolutely no time :) (I speak from experience - I learned what I don't want on my own boat! )

I guess the next logical step should be making contact and exchange a bit and do some kind of video chat to feel the vibe!

Let's see what this brings!
