In the Navy, a Diver is considered a specialized but a secondary qualification. My primary Rating/MOS was an Engineman, which is just as it sounds a guy who works on engines, lol. So i am a pretty good Mechanic, on propulsion as well as ancillary systems. The Unit that I was assigned to while working on the dive boat, was Special Boat Unit 12, ( the guys who transport the SEALS to and from their objectives), where i was formally taught Navigation, Rules of the Road, Radar Operation etc... and qualified as a Boat Captain, for 24ft RHIBS, 42 ft, Fountain, 65 Ft Patrol Boats ( one of which I drove from Norfolk through the Panama Canal to San Diego)
In the intervening years I have worn a lot of hats, but the one I have worn the longest is the one for a Firefighter/EMT, So I am pretty good to have around in case of an emergency or injury. I have been a Brick Mason, an Office Manager, owned a computer repair company, I even went to culinary school for a while to be a chef, so I know my way around a kitchen, and am considered an excellent chef.
Personally, most of the time I am quiet and reserved, I read voraciously , preferring it to TV, on an eclectic selection of books, which also describes my music play list. I am learning to play the Guitar at present..... playing it well is an overstatement. I love the peace, tranquility, smell, sounds, challenge of being on the water.
