Dear Shipmates,
Finally back in the US after a 1.5 year, 15 country backpacking and sailing adventure.
In the summer of 2014, I worked on a 44 ft. luxury charter catamaran in Mykonos, Greece as a chef / sailor for 3 perfect months. Prepared 9 dishes for guests for day / sunset cruises (or both) every day during sails from Mykonos to Rinia / Delos. The most guests we had was 17 - chaos!! Also had a week long charter to Santorini and back, and a two night charter.
Completed my first crossing in May 2014 - 1,200 miles from New Zealand to Fiji. Took around 8 and a half days.
My certifications include ASA 101 Basic Keel Boat Sailing and ASA 105 Navigation. In 2004, made a 3 week trip through the British Virgin Islands on a 50 ft mono-haul, and a 1 week sail through the Australian Whitsunday Islands on a 70 foot trimaran in 2005. During the trip in Australia, we spent 3 days on a live-aboard dive boat where we dove 11 times allowing me to become open water PADI certified. Became Advanced with SSI in October 2014. I'd estimate around 1,700 miles under my belt (1,200 offshore) and would like to continue to rack up miles.
While living in D.C., I joined a team and raced Catalina 22's weekly.
Traveling is by far my biggest passion in life. I circumnavigated the globe during my abroad program, stopping in 11 countries over 104 days (semesteratsea.org). Throughout my life, I have been to 43 countries and 6 continents (just Antarctica left!).
I am in good physical condition and would be willing to help out with any job needed, no matter what - no complaining coming from me. Also, I cook a lot - prepared seared ahi tuna with a mahi mahi soup appetizer under reef 2 and 30 knot winds - quite an interesting experience. I've also worked several chef jobs in restaurants and on sailboats
I am looking to joing a racing team, or crew during evening / weekend cruises out of the So. Florida region! Pick me up!!!!
