Introduction
Welcome aboard!
About the boat, the plans, and current crew
A Bavaria Vision 44, delivered new to Hong Kong in 2007. Since then we've cruised to Macau, Philippines, Malaysia (Borneo), Labuan, Brunei, Philippines (again), Palau, PNG, Queensland coast of Australia, a year in NZ when we circumnavigated North Island, then Fiji, Vanuatu, New Caledonia and back to Oz, cruising the east coast down to Sydney. We re-crossed the Tasman in 2016 to explore more of more of NZ, before heading up to Tonga & Fiji in May 17.
We are now back in glorious New Zealand, lucky to be sheltering here from the Covid storm.
Our yacht has three double cabins and two heads with showers. She's fast, very comfortable and well equipped with Cat 1 safety equipment including 8-man liferaft, sat-phone, EPIRB, VHF & SSB, RADAR, multiple GPS chartplotters and AIS. Also: autopilot, generator, water-maker, air-con (although seldom necessary), TV & DVD, 3 x kayaks, fishing & snorkeling gear, Powerdive, etc, etc. The aim is to be safe and have fun...
What is expected of the crew
For the Autumn season, we'll be exploring the Hauraki Gulf - Bay of Islands coast, all low-key stuff, starting with a cruise from Whangarei-Opua over Easter. We have space for a couple of crew, someone who's game to help with boat prep and the daily chores. Not all grind, though - we expect to have some fun along the way!
We ask for a contribution of NZ$35 pd towards your own F&B, less if you are TT. You’d also be expected to cover any extra costs ashore, eg the odd visit to pub or restaurant. All other boat costs are for our account, including fuel, marina fees, etc.
