I am a very experienced owner and operator of power boats on the Mississippi River and tributaries. I hold ASA certifications for Basic Keelboat, Basic Coastal Cruising and Bareboat Chartering. I have limited sailing experience on Lake Minnetonka, Lake Superior, and two weeks' in the British Virgin Islands which is where I received my certifications.
I am active in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, where I hold a local leadership position and have qualifications in Telecommunications, Vessel Examination, Weather and Seamanship.
I am currently working towards my Coast Guard OUPV license. Since this is where I have documented experience, I will first be getting the Inland license.

I currently own two smaller power boats that I'm using to build time towards my license. I've operated boats since a teenager and owned several through the years but I'm not able to document most of that time. My attraction to sailing came later in life; now I'm making up for lost time, although I'm obviously interested and would be helpful on power boats as well.

I I am recently retired and am wanting to catch up on the things I've wanted to do, mostly around boats and travel. I've travelled extensively (North America, Europe and Asia) for work, now I want to really seeing the world at a slower pace. By the qualifications I've achieved thus far, and my Coast Guard Auxiliary work, and the other things I'm working on, I think I am serious about wanting to experience new places and enhance my skills on the water.
