For my entire life, I’ve always thought that one day I might end up retiring and buying a sailboat to live on and sail around the world. I’ve only recently discovered that it’s not as expensive as I thought and at 43 my finances are finally allowing me to explore this opportunity. Originally I thought that I might buy a boat but in reality it’s going to be best for me to crew others boats, learn as I go, and use my skills to help with repairs and maintenance.
I am an endurance athlete, consistently placing and finishing in the top 10% of the field so I certainly look forward to some of the hard work ahead of me. In fact, I dream about it. I love being challenged both mentally and physically.
I feel that most problems are usually just opportunities or even gifts to learn and educate one self further. So I always have a positive outlook, no matter how dismal things may be.
I’m only mentioning this because it seems like it comes up a lot amongst the sailing community but for the first part of my life, I identified as a straight male for the second half of my life I identified as a gay male and right now I just don’t care anymore. As much as I’d love to have a life partner it’s just not a priority anymore. I want to sail the oceans and experience the diverseness of the world. I’m sure that ultimately I’ll meet someone along the way but right now it just isn’t a priority.
As of this writing, 15/9/2024, I’m just working, saving, and preparing. I can do sails of 2-3 weeks and I’m ready now! In December, I’m hoping to have crewing spot secured for Mid December onward.
My background is in general contracting/construction. I’ve done everything from concrete driveways to roofs and everything in between. I’m a fast as hell learner and an outside the box thinker. Above average intelligence but don’t have a complex about it.

Right now, I’m mainly looking for experience whether that is cleaning, maintaining and most specifically sailing 30-40 ft vessels. I’m a general contractor by trade, so I am very good with my hands and great at thinking mechanically to solve problems or even improve processes.
My availability is fairly open. I would love to have some trips scheduled for later June or July but definitely August and September. I do not have a passport as of right now so I am limited to the United States preferably the East Coast, but will fly West for the right opportunities.
