Hello everybody!
Many moons ago my sailing baptism of fire was rounding the Cape of Good Hope. I swore that I would never get on a boat again. Since then I have grown to love being on the water, sailing to and exploring new places inaccessible to me on land, and owned a yacht myself.
My life has always been about seeking adventure, visiting new countries and especially getting to know different cultures, be it by backpacking, as a flight attendant, or most recently as a tour guide leading German tours in Alaska and Yukon. As a keen photographer I enjoy my ever changing surroundings.
I live in a spectacular part of the world, a playground with mountains to the East and water to the West, and have spent much time sailing the waters between Vancouver Island and British Columbia. I have also enjoyed sailing in the Caribbean and Greece.
A little about me as a potential sailing partner:
It goes without saying that I expect to be an active partner in every aspect of life on board and hope to learn a whole lot more about sailing. I like a clean boat and will do my part to keep it so. I am easy going, personable, and enjoy people from anywhere and everywhere. I have a great sense of humor and I don't take myself too seriously. I can be the life and soul of a party, but also enjoy quiet and reflective times and good conversation. I believe that nothing is impossible and will always try something new. Slippery seafood excluded. What I lack in skills I am eager to learn.
I love snorkeling, and have a little diving experience. I appreciate good food, good wine and and am pretty good at making this happen. I can also live on oats if need be, but preferably for not too long.
Since I have raised two children I would also enjoy and be useful crewing on a boat with children on board.
Thanks for checking in!
Sonja
