I'm trying to develop and fine tune my sea legs by gaining some experience - paid or unpaid depending. I'm a former army medic with years of first-aid and trauma-related experience. I've lived abroad for over 10 years and really enjoy traveling.
Since I finished my RYA Practical Sailing Course Day Skipper in Gibraltar in January 2023, I've had the opportunities to help with some boat deliveries in the US and sailing the Mediterranean and Tyrrhenian Seas. In addition to that, I've done an ocean crossing from Honolulu to San Francisco, logging about 2,600 NM on that journey. I have a lot of experience with overnight passages and have experience with skippering various other day-sailing passages. Additionally, I've also skippered a 47' vessel from San Francisco to Santa Barbara and beyond to the Channel Islands and back to San Francisco, making the round at Point Conception twice. I've sailed into the New York Harbor avoiding the strong tides and onto Oyster Bay.
I have a great sense of humor. I'm a team player and I really enjoy meeting new people. I am LGBT friendly as well.

As for my interests, I am comfortable playing cards during downtime, listening to podcasts or reading by myself. I enjoy cooking and am always looking for advice on ways to eat and cook more simply. While I am a busy bee, I know when it is time to take a break. I welcome any stories of adventures or learning new experiences. I have an extremely open mind; there is not much out there that would surprise me.
Regarding my plans, my goal is to gain enough experience to do boat deliveries and confidently buy a live-aboard sailboat within the next year. While I currently reside in Richmond, Virginia, I'd be happy to explore sailing or work opportunities outside of the Virginia region.
