Hi, I'm Jon!
I'm a youthful, fit and active 49 year old with an extensive marine and sailing background. I moved away from the coast about 11 years ago to pursue adventure in the Rocky Mountains. I have owned numerous boats through the years, and lived aboard in St John. I have sailed extensively through New England, as well as deliveries and crew along the east coast, ICW, Caribbean, Baja and Bermuda aboard vessels from 40'-66'.
I currently own a highly customized 49' sailboat built on a Cal 46 hull, but still enjoy the experience of deliveries on other vessels
Most recent trips have been a delivery from San Diego to Cabo San Lucas on a C&C40; Antigua to Miami on an Atlantic 57 catamaran; island hopping around Martinique on a Beneteau 50; the Sea of Cortez cruising aboard a 46'; delivered a JV 66' racing boat from Bermuda to Newport and moved my own boat from Key Largo to North Carolina for some refit work.
I'm quite easy going, prefer captain and crew who are the same. I'm very familiar with marine systems and boats in general having worked at a marina on the coast of Maine for many years when I was younger. I'm very competent in running both sail and powerboats, but equally content taking direction from a competent skipper. Former USCG licensed captain, (OUPV) now lapsed due to a lack of current sea time which fell off when I moved to Colorado.
Part business owner and semi retired, I sporadically have a fair amount of free time. I am not looking to pay to crew on other people's boats. I'm open to passages of up to 30 days on seaworthy vessels. I am close to meeting my current sea time licensing requirements, and I am open to discussing future seasonal captains positions.
I love the sailing community and the people I have connected with through the years and am looking forward to more now that I have phased out of my 50 hour a week working career. Looking to share experiences and make lifelong friends.
