Just me, I'm not bringing any crewmates

Dear Shipmates

Introduction

After intensive Atlantic crossing, I’m looking for a sailboat leaving Miami (or FL coast/Bahamas) to the Bahamas/Caribbean ASAP. Later in late April / early May, I'm going to CROSS ATLANTIC from the Caribbean back to Europe. I’m passionate, experienced (6830 NM, 6 months at sea) and a qualified sailor (Sail and Motorboat Skipper licence – PYA/RYA). I’ve tested my navigation skills on some really busy and stressful waters. I’ve got experience in both coastal and offshore sailing (solo watch-keeping). I’m also a trained paramedic with my own med equipment (feel safer!) and have experience with repairs and maintenance of various systems onboard. Sounds like a match – reach out ask for my full profile and references from my previous skippers.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I’m a young, passionate, experienced and qualified sailor:
• 6830 NM and 6 months at sea (seas visited: Adriatic, Aegean, Ionian, Balearic and Baltic, Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean)
• Sailing licence of both Yacht and Motorboat Skipper (PYA)
• GMDSS VHF Short Range Certificate radio licence (RYA)
• KPP - advanced medical qualification – paramedic (Poland)
• Experience with repairs and maintenance of various systems onboard (engines, rigging, white/grey/black water, electric, steering and navigation systems (NMEA 2000 & SeaTalk).
• I’m fully COVID-19 vaccinated (the 3rd dose of Pfizer in Dec 2021).

Looking for a crew to assist you with sailing, night-watches, docking and marina operations, cooking, babysitting, shopping, cleaning and general maintenance on the boat? Do you want to feel safer with a qualified paramedic onboard and simply looking for an easy-going companion in your explorations? I’d be more than happy to help you with all that and more. Above all, I simply want to learn from you as much as possible, share some amazing moments with you and exchange our experiences.

Certificate of Competency of Motorboat Skipper (Polish governmental motorboat licence) that allows me to command any motor vessel of hull length up to 18 meters in all sea waters around the globe.
Short Range Certificate (VHF licence) issued by prestigious RYA (Royal Yachting Association).

Medical Qualifications & Certificates:
Advanced First Aid (Kwalifikowana Pierwsza Pomoc) – valid paramedic certificate. These are the highest possible medical qualifications one can get in Poland without graduating from a university.
I’m trained to perform:
• cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) using instrumental clearing of the airways, defibrillator and resuscitation bag
• active and passive oxygen therapy
• prevention of hypothermia and hyperthermia
• basic anti-shock treatment (hypovolemic, cardiogenic, anaphylactic and neurogenic)
• treating wounds, stabilising fractures and stopping the external haemorrhage
• Supporting of the patient in life-threatening conditions and other emergencies (diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease [COPD], acute coronary syndrome, myocardial infarction, hemorrhagic stroke)
• evacuation and medical transport of victims
• psychological support of patient

Past Sailing Experience:

February-March 2022 – I’ve sailed as a delivery crew from Valencia, Spain to Miami, US on a futuristic catamaran of Polish construction – Wave 50. This nearly two-months-long voyage was a lifetime adventure for me. I’ve learned a great deal of new things about sailing and myself.
• I’ve tested my navigation skills in some really busy and stressful places such as Strait of Gibraltar
• For the first time I’ve been sailing non-stop for such a long time so I spend hours on night watches
• Fishing for Atlantic predators (massive tuna and mahi mahi)
• Repairing battery systems
• Water maker reparations
• Bilge pump refit

August-October 2021 – I worked as a deckhand/ 1st Mate on a private luxurious 67feet sailing yacht in the Ionian See in Greece. Initially, I’ve been working hard doing maintenance work and repairs such as:
• removing rust and painting bilges and machine-room
• refreshing teak with special chemicals
• painting boards and bottom with anti-fouling
• 4-day-long general cleaning of the entire boat
When the yacht was on the water, besides sailing, I’ve learned a lot about boat engines, rigging, water, steering systems and navigation:
• some small repairs of Volvo Penta engines (I’ve learned a big deal of their construction and maintenance)
• I’ve done some rigging works such as: replacing genoa and jib sheets and assisting professionals with halyards replacement.
• I did some plumber jobs on a sailing boat such as: installing a new bilge pump, replacing several impellers in different types of pumps, repairing faulty black and grey water systems onboard
• I ordered for the owner a new Jefa Steering auto-pilot unit and replaced it
• I assisted in repairs of seawater sensors in the Kohler generator
• I repaired some old and installed new navigation instruments in the cockpit (Raymarine devices | NMEA 2000 and SeaTalk old and NG) and assisted professionals in the installation of a new GPS antenna

Private Recreational Sailing
I’ve been on five touristic/recreational voyages in the Adriatic, Aegean and Baltic seas.
I raced twice (double-handed boats).
Each summer I spend from 2 to 4 weeks organising voyages for family and friends on beautiful Mazurian Lakes in northern Poland (17 weeks of experience in inland sailing as a skipper).

My motivation and reasons to crew on a boat

have a holidayvisit remote placesfulfill a dreamface challengesgain experiencelearn to sailtravel

I’m a 21-year-old Pole. In 2019, I’ve moved to the UK to study Politics, Sociology and East European studies at University College London (UCL) – I’ve finished my second year of that fascinating course and because of the COVID situation, I’m decided to take a gap year to sail around the world.

As I study politics and sociology, I’m genuinely interested in people, societies and political systems. I specialise in using social media for making politics, propaganda and voting behaviour. For example, I’ve recently written about the infamous Cambridge Analytica and their psychographic micro-targeting techniques – maybe you heard about them? Apart from studying, I worked as a press officer in my cavalry regiment (yes, I served in the cavalry – fantastic hobby), an archivist, bar manager (I’m quite a good bartender). Most recently, I’ve worked in movie and commercials production. I’m also a private tutor in history (my great passion) and a babysitter and a from time to time. I had only one previous workaway experience but it was so great! When I was 18 I travel to Cotswolds, UK and for a month helped out a couple of fantastic artists living in a Victorian estate – I was taking care of new-born Cosmo, playing and having fun with his older siblings – 9yo boy and 14yo girl (I’ve was a sailing instructor to a boy too), polishing cars, cleaning 200-year-old basements (catacombs I should say), doing some general maintenance staff, rolling sushi and many more. It was a fantastic experience and I’m deeply grateful to my hosts Dan and Juliet.

When it comes to my passions, the music is just after the sailing. I’ve graduated from the Polish music school, playing clarinet and piano. I was too lazy to practice several hours a day so I did not turn out to be a professional, but music school has given me a lot! I love classical music, blues and jazz. My favourite composers are Chopin, Debussy and Stravinsky. As I said earlier I like to be with people so I also enjoyed interviewing. I have some journalist experience. Back in high school, I was a leader of the GreatPoles.pl project which was an initiative of Polish students to promote great Polish personalities all over the world. As a part of the project, I made several interviews on art, culture, history and politics. I even managed to interview Nobel Prize winner Lech Wałęsa as a 17-year-old.
