Past Sailing Experience:
February-March 2022 – I’ve sailed as a delivery crew from Valencia, Spain to Miami, US on a futuristic catamaran of Polish construction – Wave 50. This nearly two-months-long voyage was a lifetime adventure for me. I’ve learned a great deal of new things about sailing and myself.
• I’ve tested my navigation skills in some really busy and stressful places such as Strait of Gibraltar
• For the first time I’ve been sailing non-stop for such a long time so I spend hours on night watches
• Fishing for Atlantic predators (massive tuna and mahi mahi)
• Repairing battery systems
• Water maker reparations
• Bilge pump refit
August-October 2021 – I worked as a deckhand/ 1st Mate on a private luxurious 67feet sailing yacht in the Ionian See in Greece. Initially, I’ve been working hard doing maintenance work and repairs such as:
• removing rust and painting bilges and machine-room
• refreshing teak with special chemicals
• painting boards and bottom with anti-fouling
• 4-day-long general cleaning of the entire boat
When the yacht was on the water, besides sailing, I’ve learned a lot about boat engines, rigging, water, steering systems and navigation:
• some small repairs of Volvo Penta engines (I’ve learned a big deal of their construction and maintenance)
• I’ve done some rigging works such as: replacing genoa and jib sheets and assisting professionals with halyards replacement.
• I did some plumber jobs on a sailing boat such as: installing a new bilge pump, replacing several impellers in different types of pumps, repairing faulty black and grey water systems onboard
• I ordered for the owner a new Jefa Steering auto-pilot unit and replaced it
• I assisted in repairs of seawater sensors in the Kohler generator
• I repaired some old and installed new navigation instruments in the cockpit (Raymarine devices | NMEA 2000 and SeaTalk old and NG) and assisted professionals in the installation of a new GPS antenna
Private Recreational Sailing
I’ve been on five touristic/recreational voyages in the Adriatic, Aegean and Baltic seas.
I raced twice (double-handed boats).
Each summer I spend from 2 to 4 weeks organising voyages for family and friends on beautiful Mazurian Lakes in northern Poland (17 weeks of experience in inland sailing as a skipper).
