Dear Shipmates

Introduction

Recent update: back in college, mostly available for weekends. Would love to do a spring break sailing adventure(or paid delivery) in march. Available again in July after first summer semester.

After crossing the Pacific ocean from southern Japan to eastern Australia and back I was hooked. In the years since then I have attained the American Sailing Association 101 basic keelboat certificate and have been crew on several boats in the great lakes, Pacific, and Atlantic. Operations have varied from charter sail crew, racing crew, coastal cruising, and day sailing. My intention is to find higher experience in all aspects and obscurities prior to purchase of and excursion on my own vessel. As well as logging days/hours towards taking a captains license exam to expand this from a hobby to a career option. Previous crew positions on boat types/lengths including:
LPD-20/684'(motor)
Gaff rig schooner/77'(sail)
12 Metre/70'(sail)
Islander 40 (sail)
C&C 121 (40' sail)
Downeaster 38 (sail)
Capri 18 (sail)
and a good few days on dive boats all around the world.
Prior to setting out on this adventure (I did take a small break from sailing to complete another semester of college) I found employment in technical work as a gunsmith and on my own flipping houses as rental units. The skills from threading pipes and fixing complex mechanisms has paid off for me in underway repairs on sailboats time and time again. We say we are sailors but i think we are all in part at least: diesel mechanics, novice sailmakers, riggers, painters, and carpenters in that we have all had to fix those one or two weird things underway. Would ideally like to spend some time familiarizing with crew prior to setting sail on longer voyage. I am vaccinated. Prefer paid positions or positions in trade for room and board.

I intend sooner or later to buy(or just build) that one boat that is just right and do a live aboard type deal, maybe long voyages, racing, or coastal cruising either way no rush. Right now I am learning from as many sailors from as many places as possible as well as making some good friends. I love the adventures, faces, races, and places that this website has ipened up to me and now I feel like pushing my solo sailing desires to a later date and just enjoying this wild world from the best vantage point, the helm of a sailboat. Stars brighter than in any desert and people friendlier than any city sidewalk the sailing life just does it for me!
