I have recently taken ownership of a Jeanneau 53 and will be based out of Brunswick, GA. I am offering my services as I am currently interested in gaining sailing experience on larger sailboats with a goal toward long range cruising travel on my own boat. I grew up first on the Great Lakes and then on the Georgia coast. I have been on offshore fishing power vessels my entire life ranging up to 150 miles off the Georgia coast. I have crewed on fishing charter boats and am familiar with extreme tides up to 9' and the associated strong currents such as are on the Georgia coast.
At this point my sailing experience is years in small sailboats under 20 feet mostly in Hobie cats and Prindle cats so my experience on large sailboats is minimal. I am very comfortable offshore and have very good navigational skills. I grew up originally using a compass and dead reckoning to get to fishing grounds 50 miles offshore. Now we use GPS. I have been to most of the inlets on the Georgia and Florida Atlantic coast and am familiar with most on the Gulf coast.
Although I just turned 62, I stay fit. I have no health problems of which I am aware. No allergies or anything of that sort. I have been a certified diver since age 15 and want to dive as much as possible.
I am retiring soon from a career and background in the laboratory sciences. I have degrees in biology and geology. I have traveled extensively throughout the US. Now I would like to see the rest of the world. I consider myself a professional and mature, responsible individual who enjoys new things and is willing to work hard when necessary. I've always believed in all things in moderation and I feel I'm an easy going person that gets along with everybody. I have many friends but have no problem being alone for extended periods. Before and while in college I worked as a bartender on St. Simons Island, GA and enjoy a good party with the best of the
