I'm a techie by trade, but have quite diverse interests and am reasonably well read. I'm very open-minded, respectful and really enjoy engaging and thoughtful conversation. I'm pretty comfortable in my own skin and like spending time with similar folks. I still work a 9-5 job and I'm a parent (nest isn't empty yet), so months-long trips are out of reach for me at this point, though hopping on for weeks-long legs of voyages is definitely possible (once Covid lifts and we can safely fly again!). I love to cook (at home), and am still adapting to the limitations (space) of a typical galley, but this is a fun challenge as much as anything. I'm also a pretty decent mechanic, and have rebuilt more than one engine (never done a full diesel rebuild, but have micrometers and calipers, etc., to travel).

I've been a life-long beach-cat coastal sailor, with some cruising monohull experience on the Chesapeake Bay. I'm now interested in getting into more serious cruising, working up to increasing amounts of offshore travel and passage-making. I just want to gain some real experience - build miles - and have some fun - as I build up to getting my own boat. I have spent the past two seasons as part of a club on the bay with a 32' boat, and am hoping to experience a variety of boats to better discern what I want in a boat.

I have quite good mechanical skills as well; although I am not a certified mechanic, I've rebuilt a few engines (successfully!). I'm also quite good with electronics, including digital systems.
