Dear Shipmates

Introduction

I turn 65 through a year. One of my last bucket list items is sailing for weeks on end. I hope to find a boat that will spend at least two weeks on the Mediterranean. I would love to photograph the Ionian islands. If you would like to help fulfill this dream, please reach out.

I've done some coastal and lake sailing in the past but want something more substantial. I'm hoping for some sailing as part of a 2-3 month trip later in 2023 or 2024 . Ideally, I will fly to the boat's location and then help a skipper prep for a crossing. I have much of the gear I would need and can even provide a small, manual watermaker.

*** Back to the original post ***

I passed my ASA 101, 103, & 104 tests on 25 Jan 2019. Now I am more eager to get experience. I am busy for the rest of 2019 aside from short trips leaving from TX or LA so I am looking here for opportunities beginning in Aug 2023.

Retired world traveller working to extend my knowledge. Since 2012, I've been to Europe 3x, gone around the entirety of South America, and driven all the contiguous US states and most Canadian provinces covering almost 350,000 miles. I'm a student of cultures and an avid photographer. In my past life, I worked in I.T. in the USAF and municipal government so I am detail oriented and eager to learn how things work. My last trip was 4 weeks through Central and South America in Spring 2024..

A bit of clarification seems in order since I didn't expect the questions of nudity or romance to even be a thing. I guess that shows how little I know. I'm looking to learn to sail and see places I haven't gotten to yet. I'm not looking for what most label as romance. I am open to intimate, which is not about sex, relationships if they happen to develop.

My career was in I.T. though I doubt that will be very useful. I am a developing cook and pick things up fairly quickly. The idea of sailing had never been a 'thing' until recently so I'm more curious than passionate at the moment. I'm curious enough that I've taken the ASA 101, 103 & 104 classes. Over the next year, I plan to do an assortment of sailing trips to determine if this is a life I'd like to embrace. I'm retired so can afford the time and have a stable, though not extensive, income stream so I can pay my own way within reason.

I am musically eclectic, fascinated by other cultures, and eager to share knowledge with those I meet.

I am a fan of adventures. I've driven 150mph in a Lamborghini, flown on a trapeze, been hang gliding, and more. To sail would be a great adventure. I like to go off the beaten path and I can't imagine any further from that path than going where there aren't any roads.
