Hello, I'm Maarten, I'm a registered nurse by trade, with a master in clinical health science. I work as a lecturer at the Leiden university of applied sciences.
I've learned to sail as a teenager on the Dutch lakes in a open sailboat. I have since cruised the west coast of Scotland in a 50ft wooden ketch in the summer of 2018 (as a crew member) and have experience as a skipper for two weeks in and around the New Zeeland bay of islands, and regularly on the dutch Ijsselmeer and frisian lakes on 25/30 ft yachts. I consider myself a confident sailor and energetic teammate, but I would like more experience larger open sea faring ships. I can do helm duty's and watches, operate navigation, interpret weather reports and set sail plans while coastal sailing. I love to learn from experienced sailors and just love being on the water.

I'm traveling through Ireland and Scotland in the summer of 2021 and would love to spend some time sailing. I've got no fixed plan (yet) and will be traveling by car, so almost any place will do to embark.
