I am Floor, 27 year old, from the Netherlands. I love to travel, especially to meet new people, hear amazing stories and to explore all the corners of the world. I love to sail and to improve my sailing skills further.

At the moment, I am crossing the Pacific. I am looking for a sailboat going from Fiji to Australia in August.

I have sailed all my life. In my childhood mainly in dinghies (Splash and Laser) and I did sail competively for a year in a J22, but the last few years I sailed I gained more ocean and sea experience. In the last 6 months, I sailed from Gibraltar to Tonga, crossing both the Atlantic and Pacific. I have sailed around 20.000 NM, including sailing from Ilhabela, Brazil to San Salvador Island, the Bahama (2018), around Cape Horn (twice) (2018), from Gilbratar via Madeira, the Canary Islands, Cabo Verde to Grenada(2023) and from Saint Lucia via Colombia and Panama to French Polynesia (2024). During these trips, I did day and night shifts, loved doing the trim in order to push that extra knot out, and cooked and cleaned. Together with my father I bought a 30ft van der Stadt sailboat in 2021, which I sail both with him and friends, but mainly by myself around the Netherlands on the IJsselmeer, Waddenzee and North Sea. Last summer, my father and I crossed the Channel to Lowestoft, England.

In the past few years, I did various RYA courses and recently completed my RYA Yachtmaster Coastal (2022). I have various cerficates including RYA first aid (2022), RYA diesel engine (2023), RYA short range (2022), Dutch VHF certificate (2020).

I am a very open minded person, who loves some adventure. I like to go with the flow and see where it will lead me. Although, I also like to do my own thing in my own way so now and then. I like to believe that I have some good sense of humour.

I decided to quite my job in September 2023 and embarked on a sailboat in October 2023 from Gibraltar. Together with the skipper and other crewmates, we are crossing the Atlantic with the ARC+. After we arrived in Grenada, I joined the World ARC in Saint Lucia and will join the rally until the Marquesas.

I love the ocean, seas and all other waterways and the adventure of sailing. I would love to expand my sailing skills and knowledge by sailing on the ocean instead of the small lakes in the Netherlands. I would like to devote an indefinite time to improving my (offshore) sailing skills and explore different places. It is an experience I am really looking forward to!
