I've been sailing since I was a young child, and love being on the water. As a youth I primarily sailed smaller boats, but over the last 15+ years have become more active in coastal cruising along the central coast of California and racing. I have completed several long-distance ocean races and crewed on multi-day to week+ boat deliveries. I hold a USCG 50GRT Master MMC (Captain's license) and am extremely safety focused. I work as an instructor for US sailing Offshore Safety at Sea courses, and hold an active SAS certification myself. I have experience on monohulls and catamarans up to 50ft (15m).
In addition to sailing, I’m also an avid paraglider pilot and for many years worked part-time as a paragliding instructor. I have found sailing and paragliding to share many similarities and cross-over well.
Living in Santa Barbara California, I enjoy exploring our local coast and the Channel Islands.
I work professionally as a systems engineer and have a strong mechanical and electrical background with excellent hands on troubleshooting and repair skills. I have good experience with marine electronics and marine diesel engines. I’m extremely reliable, have good communication and personal skills, and have excellent attention to detail. I'm physically active and in good health. I don't smoke. I've spent plenty of time in "sporty" conditions, and so far....have never been seasick.
I’m looking for crewing opportunities to gain further sailing experience, learn new skills, and meet new people.
For the right opportunity (where I can contribute and learn) I’m willing to travel almost anywhere. I have a very flexible work schedule and can generally travel on short notice and for up to a few weeks at a time.
