Hi there!

I'm Matěj, but you can call me Mat, short and simple :)

Three things made me sign up here and look for a opportunities to join boats:

1) Stories from people I know who sailed around the world
2) the beautiful idea of moving from A to B with nothing but the wind as power source
3) and finally my own sailing experiences off the coast of Borneo (5days) & then through West Papua to Timor-Leste (1month) later in North Sardinia (1week) and a med passage from Ibiza to Sicily and just recently cruising the Canary Islands!

With every experience the idea of living on the sea for an extended period - and therefore purchasing an own sailing boat - is growing and maturing!

I'm an open minded, positive & friendly person who enjoys company, conversations and teamwork but can also entertain myself on my own. I am a passionate fisherman, chef, chess player and designer who loves brainstorming as well as getting things done and improved.

I also enjoy most kind of sports (beach volleyball & football being my favourites), a guitar and a drum for a jam session and photography. Waking up to to the sounds of nature just to dive into some clear waters few moments later is probably one of the best ways for me to get a new day started!!

I see myself cruising and living on the sea for an extended period of time in the not-too-far-away future, i would like to get to know more types of boats and make some progress in deciding, how my live-aboard should/could be ;) Advice and shared experiences from sailers are, in my opinion, the best commodity a can accumulate in this time of contemplation and planning.

I hold the Austrian FB2 skipper certificate (20nm off shore, sailing & power vessels < 20m) as well as the pyrotechnical certificate. Next licenses I plan to do is the SRC (short range certificate) as well as the FB3 (200nm off shore) in order to get the live aboard lifestyle started!

I'm focused on getting some more experience, learning the basics and beyond and of course, having a good & exciting time with interesting people!

Since my childhood I've loved the sea, as we lack it in my home country.

Slowly but surely I'm on the search to figure out a sustainable way of life/traveling.
Traveling the "gipsy way" (small budget/lot of contact with nature & locals/meeting other travelers) is my favourite. Sailing seems to be a perfect opportunity for that, according to my experiences!
