Once you experience the wind in your hair, the salt on your skin, and the simplicity of life at sea; you're hooked. Addicted. The salt pumps through your veins and you're sentenced to life as a salty sea gypsy.

I didn't even know that boats heeled when I joined my first crew. But as I clung on for dear life as we sailed up to Brunei, I knew that this was no short-lived lifestyle change! I stayed on board to cross the Indian ocean. And then the Atlantic. The Caribbean. Panama. And then a good chunk of the Pacific. (Before crossing most of the oceans again).

It wasn't all plain sailing (there were the pirates, the shipwreck, the loss of the rigging, weeks without propane, and months spent hand steering...) but the beauty and freedom far outweigh the bad! And the exceptional humans I've met along the way have been some of my favouritest yet!

Obviously, the dream is a boat of my own, but while I work out what, when, how, and how to explain to my mother why; I'm wanting to learn as much as I can on as many rigs as possible and simply enjoy the water and the company of others with a similar addiction. Paying jobs are also welcome because that way I can get closer to affording my own boat.

Life is an adventure after all. It needs more sailing!

Instead of heroin, shoe shopping, and arson; I got addicted to travel; life with the goats. life with a lot more stars, life in slow motion, and dirty clothes, and laughs so hard your belly aches...

With 2 university degrees and a bunch of randomly acquired skills, I set off on a 3-month trip back in 2007... Something went very wrong [or right, I suppose] and I'm still on that trip... In my years as a Part-Time Professional Gypsy (PTPG) I've explored too many exceptional places, learned a plethora of random skills, and met a world full of exceptional people - but the travel bug appears to be worsening still!!!

I'm hardworking, enthusiastic, friendly, and passionate about life - a firm believer that all things are possible!!! (Except perhaps rollerblading backwards through a revolving door)

With a love for sailing now resonating in my soul, I plan to work on board boats to learn as much from others and their boats as I possibly can so that I know what I'm looking for when one day [soon, I hope] I get my own.

I'm an explorer at heart and all I really want is to get out there and see the world - in the past decadeish of travel, I've barely scraped the surface!

Also if you do have a submarine or pirate ship then I'm already your biggest fan!
