WE ARE A FAMILY WITH 2 LITTLE HAPPY SAILORS!
I have been working on cruise ships in the caribean, and I really enjoyed sharing, learning and spending time with people from 50 different countries, but the ships were so big, huge, so I didn´t feel really living on the ocean.
Back home in Chile I spent most of the weekends on boats, going on diving trips off the coast.
I enjoyed some weekends fishing on a friends fishing yacht.
And about my sailing experience, the first one was in December 2008, for 11 days, to go from Bonaire to Panama, and the second one, for 1 month to go from San Blas Islands to Galapagos. Both in the same boat, a Grand Soleil, 52 feet. We were 2 or 3 people all of the time.
In 2010 we were sailing on a Canadian junk rigged monohull, where I met Gunter, for 20 days, from Chateaulin to La Rochelle, France. We were always between 4 and 5 crew. Learning a lot and another great experience, taking it really easy, stopping in many ports, just to enjoy and meet the people or to fix something on the junk!
The same year, for 1 month I was sailing in a Lagoon 50 between Turkey and Greece; very nice experience in so nice places!!!!
In September 2010 we sailed for the first time with Noel on his fantastic Outremer 45, doing a crossing from Greece to France, via Sicilia, Sardinia and Corsica, which took us around 4 weeks. Yet another great experience... Since then we continued crewing with Noel every second year, for about 3-4 weeks, in the Mediterranean.
In Malaysia and Thailand we crewed on many boats, all of them where short distances for at the most 1 week each.
We also sailed from Ushuaia, Argentinan Patagonia, to Paraty, Brasil, in 20 days on a 20 meter monohull.
In the last years we have been running a successful Bed and Breakfast, door and door in Bruges, where my kids and me are Airbnb Superhosts and Gunter makes sure that the 17th century building stays in great condition.
Every year we spend either 6 weeks land-sailling in our little old-timer campervan or a few weeks sailing in the Med. with our good friend Noel.
We are very respectful with the nature and try to live as sustainable as possible. While travelling we live comfortable spending less than 90 liters of fresh water per week the 4 of us in warm climates, we hardly use electricity and are very economical with the gas.
Good winds!!!!!!!
