Dear Shipmates

Introduction

Hello! We'll be sailing around northern Indonesia looking for remote waves to surf. The plan is to leave Sorong mid November, and surf along to North Maluku area for a couple of months, before sailing down to a boatyard in Lombok. So far the crew is me, my partner Phillip, and one other friend, so we're looking for one more crew member to make the sail south more cruisey, and to share the good times. Our boat's only small so this is definitely more of a simple surf trip than a luxury one. Shared expenses but we'll be spearfishing for food and eating lots of rice so it's really just the cost of diesel every now and then.

The boat: 1982 Westsail 33, which is the Australian version of the well known Westsail 32. She's slow and steady, and built like a tank. We bought her in Darwin last year and sailed up to Indonesia, so this is our second season on board. She's circumnavigated before with her previous owner.

The crew: I'm from England, I've sailed about 8000nm around the South Pacific islands, New Zealand, Australia and Indonesia. I'll be working from the boat using our starlink a couple of days a week as a video editor. I'll also be filming the trip. Phillip's Australian, has sailed about 3000nm, and works as an anaesthetic nurse when he’s not on the boat. We’re both keen climbers, and spend half of the year in Australia climbing.

What is expected of the crew

easy-goingenthusiasticfit & healthyfriendlyconfident swimmertravel light (little luggage)positive outlook

Must be a surfer, as that's the main reason for the trip. Must be happy being uncomfortable and keen for adventure. Some sailing experience preferred but not essential.
