Dear Shipmates

Introduction

Good day, just checking this sight out before taking off for a bit at the end of 2024. This year has been entertaining to say the least and brought things into perspective. Not sure where the boat will be heading honestly have not thought that far ahead yet, but the islands for sure. Timing all depends on my haul out in December that is way overdue.

A little about me: Fun loving and love to learn and teach. I will blame my uncle for introducing me to sailing in Southern California. After a few years on land breeding and training horses I wanted to get back into sailing. I started doing beer-can regattas on San Francisco Bay in 2016. That got me into crewing on a Hans Christian 48 in 2017 as mate for about 5 years. During that time I was saving and looking for a boat.

I found my S&S 52 in South Carolina and moved to the West Coast of Florida with her at the end of 2021. Over the last couple of years I have been learning the boat and doing my best to bring her up to date. While here I have got my OUPV 6-pack and learned that 7 feet of draft brings its own set of challenges in West Florida.

The yacht is a comfortable ride even in 2 to 4 meter seas, at 4 meters she starts to get a little spicy. There is a queen size berth up front, with twin bunk beds mid-ship on the port with a wet-head across the hall. Good size saloon with plenty of room to relax. Galley is a step down and aft, big enough for two "friendly" people to work in. The aft cabin in mine. Cuter rig with removable stay for a hank on stay-sail, and roller furling for the head sail, with in-boom for the main. Center cockpit with more room than you would think with everything ran back.

What is expected of the crew

To quote Chris Rock “don’t be a dick”. That is kind of the way I live my life and what I expect from others. I love to learn, and enjoy teaching. As my Uncle says “Attitude, the difference between ordeal and adventure”. Crew is expected to share in duties on the boat, cooking, cleaning, watch, maintenance, and fun.

Heads up, I do not drink. I am 19 years clean and sober. I do not care if others drink but being sloppy on the boat will not be tolerated more than once. And there is not drinking while making way .
