Dear Shipmates

Introduction

I'm a new owner that's planning to eventually sail around the world. The first year will be in Aus, then we'll decide whether we're going up and down the East Coast again, out to the Islands, or a circumnavigation of Aus. Then one day, we'll be off into the wild blue yonder.

About the boat, the plans, and current crew

4 cabin catamaran set up to live aboard comfortably. Pretty much all mod cons from a washing machine to satellite internet. Owner/Skipper 47yr old transfem, I've been aboard boats since I was a kid, but am rusty from 10+ years not sailing so planning basic coastal stuff for a while to re-up my skills. The plan is to sail down to Sydney and Tasmania during summer 2024/25. Eventually over to NZ for 18 months and off to the Islands and wherever the wind takes us. At this stage the only other person is my partner who'll be flying in on holidays until they're able to join full time after they complete uni in a few years. One cabin is planned to be kept free so friends and family of the crew can fly in and stay for a holiday wherever we are. Crew is expected to number between 4 and 8 depending on who's sharing cabins, with maybe as many as 10 for larger passages or short holidays.

What is expected of the crew

Respect and consent are the most important expectations for anyone aboard. Crew doesn't have to be LGBTQ+, but it will be points in your favour. I plan to build an accepting, happy, and above all queer home aboard. We're in it to see far off places and have a whole pile of fun while we do.
Crew will have a say in our itinerary and plans. They will be expected to pull their weight aboard, this is a shared home, not a hotel.
