Dear Shipmates

Introduction

Hi All,

I've been sailing my whole life and I still love it. I get a real thrill from being able to move my home to any where in the world I want with just the power of the wind. So cool.

I learned to sail on a Hobie 14 when I was 8 which is a cool coincidence since I spent most of my career at Hobie which is a great company. In August 2017 I retired as senior VP of engineering after 22 years. Before that I started my own company manufacturing the TriFoiler, a hydrfoil triamaran sailboat. My company merged with Hobie and I am still part owner of Hobie. Yeah. I know how to fix boats.

Since 2017 I sailed from Virginia to Newport, RI, then to Miami, the Bahamas, Dominican Republic, back to Newport, Maine, Virginia, Bermuda, Virgin islands, the Azores, Lisbon, Amsterdam and finally in the Med. My point is I have experience now.

I am constantly upgrading my boat. It is getting a whole new paint job right now and it has relatively new sails, engines, stays, trampoline, electronics, batteries, solar panels and dagger boards.

My boat is a 65 foot catamaran built in 1993 in Costa Rica and designed by Paul Lindenberg. I think it was ahead of its time as it very well designed and constructed. I like to think of it as a poor man's Gunboat. In fact it was the inspiration for Gunboat. Peter Johnstone, the founder of Gunboat was my broker when I bought the boat and he tells me that he looked at it when it was for sale before and he liked it so he started Gunboat.

Right after I bought this yacht I bought the rig off of Coco De Mer, a Gunboat 66 which was being raced competitively and so all the stuff is high performance and first rate. With the rig I got carbon fiber mast and boom, 3di carbon main and jib, Kevlar stays, Cuben fiber reacher, all the spectra running rigging and 3 spinnakers. The yacht is very fast.

It is 31 feet wide and so it is very spacious. It has 3 double beds and one single. I can send tons of pictures.

I'm just cruising the med and would like to get to the Caribbean in the winter of 2023/ 24.
