Dear Shipmates

Introduction

I will be delivering a 44 foot catamaran from Opua (NZ) to Gold Coast (Australia) with an estimated departure date of mid February 2025 (depending on weather window). The trip is likely to take 8-10 days. I have extensive experience including a Pacific crossing, Southern Ocean crossing from Perth (Australia) to Hobart (Australia) in one leg and several decades of shorter trips. The boat has travelled half way round the world and is very well equipped (and comfortable). On board will be myself, another competent and experienced male crew member in his 50's, and one or two others. I run a dry ship except for special occasions, no smokers, no vegans. The vessel has four cabins with four bathrooms, so each crew member will have their own space. The skippers culinary skills could best be described as rank, so galley duties may not necessarily be shared evenly.

About the boat, the plans, and current crew

Very experienced early 60's Aussie/Kiwi will be delivering a well found, very comfortable cruising Catamaran from NZ to Australia. The boat has four cabins, and four bathrooms, so plenty of private space for all. I will have one other experienced ocean voyager on board and am looking for another 1 or two people to round out the crew. More than happy to take a couple onboard to introduce them to the joys of voyaging, but I they would not share the same watch - less experienced will be paired with a more experienced person to start with.

What is expected of the crew

Expectations would be to independently stand watches, or if inexperienced, you will be paired with an experienced crew member, helping with maintenance while sailing (if required), assist with general house keeping, be involved in cooking. We are looking for a team member and someone to share the highs and the lows of cruising , not just a passenger. Prefer someone who is easy going and can eat most foods. If you have electrical/mechanical knowledge would be a bonus. Happy to have a couple even if one is inexperienced - but you would not share the same watches.
