My yacht is a very well equipped and well maintained 50ft catamaran. I previously had her in commercial survey for passenger charter and I'm a commercially licensed skipper so safety and equipment standards are very high.

I live aboard in a beautiful location where I have a business operating a fleet of electric boats for hire and installing electric propulsion in other yachts and boats. I'm looking for someone to help out with the business.

There will also be opportunities to crew for weekends around the Bay of Islands, sometimes going further along the NZ coast and islands for holidays. Occasionally further afield (hoping to head to Tonga for the winter in a year or two).

I've sailed extensively all around Europe, NZ and the South Pacific, including a recent world voyage from New Zealand to Europe and back.

I have broad experience having worked professionally as a skipper of a wide range of sailing yachts and sailing ships including sail training ships and charter yachts as well as working in the superyacht industry. I love teaching these skills to others.

Our route from 2016-2020 took us from NZ to French Polynesia, Pitcairn, Galapagos, Panama, San Blas, Cayman, Jamaica, Caicos, Bahamas, Bermuda, Ireland, UK, Netherlands, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, Canaries, Guadeloupe, Anitgua, Nevis, St Kitts, St Martin, Panama, Nuku Hiva and across the Pacific back to NZ in the midst of lockdown!

I'm now based at my own little private marina in a very beautiful corner of the Bay of Islands, Northland, NZ, running a fleet of electric boats for hire and converting various yachts and other vessels to electric and hybrid propulsion. I also develop radio control systems for full size yachts - very big toys!

The business is growing rapidly so I could soon offer a full time paid job for the right person. That means we are not getting out sailing so often, mostly shorter coastal trips at the moment. There will be no long ocean passages this year but next season we might go to Tonga.

I'm single and would love to meet a woman with a shared love of sailing and living on a yacht but don't be put off by that if you just want to crew or help out with the business I will respect that - I need an employee and a crew too and I love teaching.

The number one requirement is enthusiasm. Also a willingness to learn and work hard, being driven to achieve things. Experience is a bonus but I'm happy to teach well motivated, hard working crew.

Extra requirements for offshore voyages only:

For ocean crossings I only look for crew with offshore experience but anyone is welcome for coastal sailing and helping out at base. I'm happy to help you build the experience you need until you're ready to come offshore. When sailing offshore, the expenses contribution is negotiable if you have an RYA YachtMaster Offshore certificate. You're expected to take your turn keeping watch, to be diligent and to have respect, alertness, good observation skills and a high awareness level.

Crew are expected to work hard (eg. on maintenance, cooking and cleaning) and contribute towards the cost of food, fuel, etc. In return you'll get to see the world at my expense and I'll provide tuition in sailing, navigation and engineering.
