Dear Shipmates

Introduction

Seeking crew for up to one week from Monday 18 November.
The vessel, a 37-foot sailing boat, is based at Port Solent. We meet on Monday evening or early Tuesday morning and usually sail in the Solent or along the south coast to Brighton or Weymouth for up to seven days depending on the weather and how much time everyone has. If the weather is particularly favorable we may go to France or the Channel Islands. At other times we will stay safely within the Solent. The aim is to enjoy a fun and relaxing time.
We normally eat at least one meal ashore. While alcohol is not allowed while sailing we do enjoy a drink when safely at anchor or in a marina.
The boat has one double and two single cabins and is well equipped with all the usual navigation and safety gear. There is a heater for winter sailing.
Everyone on board shares the cost of food, diesel and mooring.
I have sailed on and off for about 30 years, have logged 27,000 miles and hold the RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Offshore qualification. I have owned shares in two sailboats in Britain, have done two Fastnet races and have done several long distance yacht deliveries.

About the boat, the plans, and current crew

usually cleancomfortable

The boat is based in the Solent which, being protected by the Isle of Wight, means that big waves are uncommon. So seasickness is unlikely. However it can still be very windy and at times it may be necessary to clip on. We have the necessary safety lines and lifejackets for all crew on board.

We would not normally set sail in more than a F6 if only because it is no fun doing battle at the end of a trip with other boats all trying to manoeuvre in the tight space of a marina. If strong winds developed when we were out at sea the boat is well able to cope. Thanks to in-mast furling the mainsail can be reefed from the safety of the cockpit.

The boat is owned by several people who each have a share in the syndicate. The disadvantage is that the syndicate members have to take turns sailing. The big advantage is that we have the money to maintain the boat professionally.
