I'm hoping to find friendly and adventurous crew to help with a south Pacific cruise in 2025. The schedule starts in Panama and the San Blas islands in December of '24 and a canal transit in February of '25. Then it's off to the Galapagos, Marquesas, and French Polynesia. Sailing experience is not essential if you have the desire to learn. My own experience consists of more than forty years racing, cruising, and yacht designing, and I hold an RYA Captain license.

Up to now I've been sailing with a changing mix of family, friends, crew, and single-handed. While I certainly hope to keep the flow of visitors coming, having a bit more stability in the crew could be a pleasant improvement.. I have had many find-a-crew shipmates onboard with me for (up to) a few months at a time, and always enjoyed it immensely.

I normally prefer local villages and secluded anchorages to large commercial marinas, but there will likely be a mix of both. The aim is for a relaxed schedule with plenty of days for snorkeling, beaches, hiking, sight-seeing, dinghy exploring, night life, and such. In other words, to get to know a place and its people, not just sail through it.

While I think of myself as an easy-going and fairly democratic captain, I do prefer to keep the boat clean, uncluttered, and well maintained. Staying caught up on chores means there's only a few hours per week needed to keep things ship-shape, whereas falling too far behind can make the task seem insurmountable. There are usually plenty of things to do, so if you're more comfortable (for example) cooking than cleaning filters, we can easily share the load according to everyone's preferences. Finally, I'd prefer to have crew that can help share the food and drink costs. My experience has shown that crew fit in better if they have some kind of vested interest in the boat as opposed to just expecting a free vacation. I 'll pay all other onboard expenses: including maintenance, boat consumables, and marina costs.
