I'm Matěj, but you can callce me Mat, short and simple :)

FIRST OF ALL: THANKS FOR THE SAILING OPPORTUNITIES, DEAR COMMUNITY!
Now it's time to make dreams come true.. time to get a boat & become a captain myself.

My partner and I purchased our very first boat – a 1973 Apache 41 Ketch-rigged Catamaran – in Summer 2023 in Holland.
The day we bought "Tailwind" we moved in and started to live on board permanently while sailing down south through the North Sea, the English Channel, through Bretagne and across the Bay of Biscay last Christmas.
Along the way we slowly and steadily maintain, update and upgrade the old boat that is a wonderful nest for the two of us – and the many crewmembers we have welcomed so far!
In 2024 we cruised super-slowly through all the Galician Rias Bajas (and some of the altas) and then down the Portuguese coast to the Algarve. Our current wintering region.

This first year of (old) boat ownership and navigation at my own responsibility has taught me more than I could have imagined. Patience, endurance and resilience ... humbleness, flexibility and some diesel-mechanics and 12V electric^^

Why am I still here as a crew?
Being at home on the sea, I am happy to offer my skills as a part of a delivery crew or as a skipper for both, deliveries or pleasure sails/cruising vacations. Preferably on a catamaran, but also on yachts.

Generally, I'm an open minded, positive & friendly person who enjoys company, conversations and teamwork but can also entertain himself on his own. I am a passionate fisherman, chef, chess player and designer who loves brainstorming as well as getting things done and improved.

I also enjoy most kind of sports (beach volleyball & football being my favourites), a guitar and a drum for a jam session and photography. Waking up to to the sounds of nature just to dive into some clear waters is probably one of the best ways for me to get a new day started. And who knows, dinner might be swimming by :)

I hold the Austrian FB2 skipper certificate (20nm off shore, sailing & power vessels < 20m) as well as the pyrotechnical certificate and the SRC (short range certificate).
