2024 May and June - 4 weeks in Greece sailing the Cyclades. 12 amazing islands, great anchorages and mooring spots. Lots of hiking and exploring historic site on these wonderful island gems. Easy sails of around 20-30 NM each day with enough wind to take us to the next anchorage. We were sailing with the owner on a modern 50ft monohull and very much enjoyed the company.
In September we will crew on another monohull on the west coast of Sumatra, the plan is to end up in November in Thailand. So 2024 is planned out and we are excited to see what opportunities to sail there are in 2025.
2023 May to October - we are sailing with the owner of a lovely 50ft Privilege Cat in Fiji after a tough passage from New Zealand. We are being rewarded with healthy reefs, endless visibility, the best diving and stunning anchorages. In August we continued to Vanuatu, explored the country from Tanna to Santos for a month and managed to climb some of the spectacular Volcanoes. September saw us in New Caledonia and finally we ended up in Australia in October. The boat is safely tucked away in the Scarborough marina until the next season. We managed most of the trip between the three of us with one extra crew for the last passage to Australia.
2022 we started with a delivery of a 45ft monohull together with the owner from Phuket to Singapore. In March we attempted a delivery of a 43ft Grainger catamaran from Lombok to Australia. We had to abort after 300 miles and return to Lombok due to rudder issues. This was fixed and in November we started again from Lombok. We have since sailed across Sumbawa, Moyo, Bima, Komodo, Flores and down to Kupang where we checked out. We arrived in Darwin in January. The vessel was delivered to its owner in Cairns on the 10th of February 2023 after 2800 miles without incident. References are available on request.
2021 we were stuck at home :-(
2020 was a tough year for sailing - Martin managed to complete an Atlantic Crossing from Cape Town to Brazil via Saint Helena before COVID struck but otherwise we have been confined to Sunday races at the Changi Sailing Club.
2019 started with a delivery from Singapore to Penang. In April we chartered a friend's boat and sailed around the 99 islands of Langkawi discovering some of the must stunning anchorages and beaches. If anyone is interested we'd be happy to share our GPX file for this trip.
In September and October we joined the Sail Malaysia, Passage to the East from Kudat to Tawau via the Kinabatangan River and later rejoined one of the boats from Morotai to Sorong through Raja Ampat - our most fantastic sailing, diving and snorkeling trip so far.
We were lucky to start the year 2018 with a sail on a nice Lagoon 450F from Langkawi to Phuket and visited a number of islands in Phang Nga bay and the Butangs. We also had a fantastic sail from Langkawi to Sabang and down the West Coast of Sumatra, a beautiful but fairly unexplored sailing ground here in Asia. Martin did another delivery from Langkawi to Kuala Terengganu and we ended the year with a few smaller sails around Singapore.
In 2017 we spent more time on the water than on land and have managed a delivery from Langkawi to Ko Samui (1062 miles in 8 days) and skippered a delivery with 2 passengers from Phuket to Langkawi. In March we had the pleasure of babysitting a 40ft cat for 3 weeks and have clocked up some more miles as skippers. A longer sail in August took us to Borneo, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and then down to Bali. We ended the year helping a friend and his wife to get his sloop from Puteri Harbour to Langkawi.
Altogether we have now recorded more than 20,000 NM and are looking back on some fantastic sailing adventures.
We are hoping to find some a nice skipper/owner or cruising couple who would like to have company of an easy going, friendly, open minded and well coordinated team for a few weeks or months on a leg of their cruise around Asia Pacific.
We are both non-smokers, Martin enjoys cooking and is handy with mechanical boat problems and can do basic maintenance on diesel and outboard engines. I will support him in the galley manage the provisioning and keep everyone smiling and happy on the boat :-). We both movie buffs and we love traveling, exploring new and exciting places and having fun in general.
We both enjoy diving and both have PADI certificates.
We gave up the rat race but we have some project and family commitments so need a bit of notice for any sailing adventures. But we are keen find a bunk whenever there is an opportunity to sail. We don't expect to be paid and will be happy to contribute to costs.
Please also get in touch if you need crew for a delivery or would like us to sail your boat to your chosen destination.
If you are sailing through Penang, Singapore or JB we would be happy to host you and show you around if we are in town. If you need help with provisioning, we have a car and we can also keep any spares for you at our address in case you need anything shipped. We'll be very happy to meet any sailors that come to our shores even just for some beers or a good coffee from our Italian Espresso Machine.
