Hello! My name is Will, and I will be your captain. The yacht is a Tayana 55, 1989, a recently purchased vessel, and I am gearing up for some adventures! I have extensive offshore experience, having served in the US Navy, and afterwards 5 years cruising on a Tayana 37 with my dog.

In all my travels I have come to appreciate the beauty of life on the water. It's the ultimate freedom, the last free place on Earth! I'm tri-lingual, speaking Portuguese, Spanish and English--fluent in all three. I welcome anyone no mater your nationality, and I embrace other cultures, languages and different ethnicities. Just living the dream, one chapter at a time.

About the boat, this sailboat is my third Tayana, so needless to say I have gained a lot of experience over the years upkeeping and maintaining a boat. Although not the designer of this particular boat, I am blessed to be in close personal relations with Robert Perry, the world famous Hall of Fame yacht designer. I've had wonderful mentorship from the Maestro over the years. Rest assured, we have his blessings!

Most times I have single handed, but now with a larger vessel I am really looking for a rotating crew of willing and able sailors. No experience is required, however the ability to learn, be responsible, and follow orders is essential for your safety, and that of the other crew members.

Respecting the power of the ocean is the number one priority. We have to be able to count on each other, and there is little room for error sometimes. Safety starts with you. As I have experienced various scenarios, it's vital that we are able to communicate well when things get squirrely with Mother Nature. Before any agreements are made, we will have to conduct a zoom meeting.

The yacht is a well fitted vessel, and is in great serviceable condition! She is spacious, and can host up to 8 crew members comfortably. The world is ours! Let's go explore!

The yacht is USCG Documented and is well fitted for blue water ocean cruising. She drafts 6'2", and with her CB down she's drafting 9'6" offshore.

This Tayana 55 Ketch is roughly 62' in length with her aft platform, and her beam and mast height are 16'1" and 65' respectively. Her displacement is over 25 tons, so she's a sturdy wide bodied heavy gal. Ta Yang is widely known for building good solid boats.

Propulsion is a 135hp Perkins, with a diesel generator, equipped with a water maker holding 175 gals of potable water, and 175 gals of diesel. I am installing solar and a wind generator to reduce burning of fuel to keep her house bank charged up.

I contracted for the older and outdated Raymarine equipment to be yanked out, installing all new Garmin chart plotters, Radar, autopilot compass, and other upgrades. The cruising will be equipped with AIS, Garmin inReach, SSB, Starlink, EPIRB, and 8 person life raft.

The yacht has a spacious galley and salon, forward v-berth cabin, midship cabin, aft master cabin. There are two (new) heads, two showers, deck wash, aft swim platform where the RHIB is stowed underway (the mizzon boom is utilized to raise and lower the tender). She is also equipped with A/C, icemaker, and a spacious refrigeration and chill box.

I have a current survey for the vessel I will be willing to share upon communication.

The current plan is to sail down to Key West on or around the first week of December. This will be a shakedown cruise, at which point I will be looking to take on crew.

A two year old German Shepherd named Kora will be assisting us in our travels. She is kind, gentle and can be playful if you like dogs. Kora is very intelligent and is very well behaved and calm.

Once I have a clear sight of when the vessel will be ready for cruising, I will pay the membership fee and begin looking for suitable crew. But feel free to "wave" if you find any interest.

One last piece of important information, my ultimate goal is to sail around the world.

Please, proper hygiene is a must. This means also, but not limited to, cleaning up after yourself, always keeping the head clean (remember, other crew have to use it too), properly stowing your gear, washing dishes, storing your dirty clothing appropriately (there is a washer/dryer combo for use while in port), and por favor, making your bunk. You will be sleeping above spare parts, tools and other items stowed in compartments below that if needed to get in a hurry, a clean bunk without obstructions is very handy. And trust me, you will appreciate it after a long watch. ;)
