Hello
I have recently returned from 4 years in Antarctica and am looking for my next adventure.
I have been working around boats for the 4 years in the southern ocean and am now looking to get into the yacht side of things.
In south Georgia i was the station leader, making the the authority of the island. i have vast experience in search and rescue and looking after the health and safety of teams whilst making the most out of each situation. i am very used to working with small teams in cosy living environments. Working with boats I of course have my PB level 2.
I thoroughly enjoy all water sports and have recently acquired my diving license. I also enjoy photography and videography.
Now the skills:
I am an electrical/mechanical engineer by trade. I worked for 10 years with diesel engine manufacturer Cummins. As a maintenance engineer i looked after all of the CNC machines and general infrastructure, meaning i would closely with all aspects of mechanical and electrical systems, including electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics and rotating machinery.
I also had to conduct all the necessary welding, fabricating, milling, fitting and turning. pluming and carpentry occasionally.
Aboard vessels i have recently been operation twin screw RHIBs with Evinrude engines. carry out maintenance on the engines, as well as twin bucket jet boats with twin inboard yanmars. fixing and maintaining all aspects of the vessels.
I was also an engineer in Antarctica working with very limited resources to keep the research station operational. This included water production via reverse osmosis.
all of my skills should be transferable to bigger vessels.
I am looking to learn to sail, have a great time and further learn the ocean whilst meeting great people.
