My name is Maddie, I am an Italian 23 year old. Since I was a little kid I always felt the urge to break out of my own little space and look for something different, bigger and new. Years have gone by, and I still do not know what I am looking for. I have given it many names: adventure, travels, soul searching but in the end I think it's just a way for me to explore this beautiful Earth. When I was 10 my parents signed me up for a sailing course, and since that summer I never stopped sailing. It was my first true passion, the only thing I loved, outside of my family & friends, the sails and winds casted a spell on me I will never be able to break. Back then I was racing small singles and doubles such as optimists, equipes, and 420s. I travelled to Australia about a year ago and there I had the opportunity of sailing as crew with the most amazing people. I have learnt the basics of sailing on big yachts by cruising on the coast of NSW and by taking part on a few amateur sailing regattas in Sydney Harbour. With me is always Steyn, my Dutch boyfriend who has become as passionate as me about sailing and cruising. We have done some small crossing together such as through the Tasman Sea from Coffs Harbour to Lord Howe Island, and we have done nocturnal navigation many times. After Australia we had the chance of taking part to the IndoRally 2023 and made our way from the Komodo Islands to Lovina, North Bali. We crewed for about three weeks in Indonesia and love it! We know we still have a lot to learn and every yacht is different but we are eager to prove ourselves useful and share new adventures with others. We are easygoing, tidy and flexible people, we feel comfortable out in the deep blue and love sharing the experience with others. Steyn is a photographer and I am yet to find my path, but we both have the dream of one day having our own boat and sail her around the world. The near future is always a mystery to me, I think I have been stang by the travelling bug and I always get an itchy sensation to set out to new adventures. My dream is to be able to find a sailboat and sail her around the globe. I have worked in a variety of jobs: waiteressing, catering, sales and babysitting. I don't mind working at all, I love learning new skills! I have a bachelor in international studies but I think I won't be pursuing a career in diplomacy :)

Never have I felt more freedom than when surfing the high seas and catching the breeze. Trimming sails, reading charts, being able to master the technicalities of sailing is a gift I'll never give for granted. I can't really explain the reason why I feel this way about sailing, but it has always made sense to me and I will always seek the blue where I can.
