Hey there!
I was born in bred in coastal New England where my winters were spent listening to fog horns... and summers consisted of hopping on a sailboat to cruise around Block Island Sound and the islands around the cape. From sailing a Sunfish solo to sharing a 26 foot Pearson with my family, I was instilled with a deep and profound respect for the ocean… to the extent that I still just don’t care for fresh water when salt is available.

I left the those beaches and islands for college... and then just haven't wanted to settle in one spot. Over the years I've learned that when money ran out and I didn’t want the adventure to end, the service industry could be lucrative and interesting. From slinging food and drink in a pub in Galway to mixing fruity concoctions with paper umbrellas in beach bars closer to the equator, I kept earning my way on whatever coastline happened to be intriguing at the time. This brought me to the Pacific side of the states. I found the Northwestern shores to be wonderful, California to be interestingly diverse, and the vibe all over to suit me just fine.

I've been working on and off the water from the Baja peninsula up to Southeastern Alaska, merging my love of hospitality and sea legs alike... and now I am looking to leave the land behind and just get back to sailing.

I am one of those "sincerely happy people". Consistently optimistic and easy-going, I can fit in with just about any group. I won't watch a movie if a book is available in my down time (since my own imagination is more fun than Hollywood), and since I generally set my sights on work that I enjoy I don't crave time off. I've spent enough time in Spanish speaking countries that yo entiendo mas de lo que hablo, but English is the language in which I often speak a bit too rapidly when excited.
I am more comfortable and happier walking around barefoot on a boat than shod on land, and I want to learn more so that I can do so confidently. As part of a crew I am a great asset, but I have a lot to learn when it comes to completely operating a vessel.
I have fallen in love with different island chains over the years, and the Caribbean houses some of my favorite. I know there are soooo many more out there that I haven't been able to get to yet, and I need to fix that. I don't want to go somewhere for a quick visit, though. Not a vacation. I want the traveling to be more enlightening, educational, and epic than the destination. If I can get to one destination and then be more excited about traveling to the next, I figure I've got it made!

With my background in hospitality I have been extremely happy in a steward capacity, but I also want to re-learn everything I used to do when I was younger. I can keep a heading, snag a mooring and secure a line, but I want to again be capable of actually sailing with confidence.
I'd love to get to a point where I can sail anywhere with anyone and know exactly what I'm doing. Down the line I want to acquire my captain's license, and in the meantime I'm highly enjoying each new horizon I can find!
