Where to begin? I reside in the Northern Neck of Virginia. I have been sailing for about 15 years and before that I served 4 years in the Navy, all aboard ship and half that time overseas. I now own and sail a Bristol 30 and a Bayfield 25. Over the last 10 years or so I have owned and restored a Westsail 32, Columbia 26, Pearson 30 and a Pearson Ariel. I have also in the last ten years managed a marina in Kinsale, Virginia.
I have guided boat owners on the Chesapeake Bay (my stomping grounds) usually those boaters coming up the Intracoastal Waterway, usually from Portsmith or Norfolk, VA to Cape May, NJ. In 2022 I crewed on a 1976 Pearson 365 for a month in the Bahamas before returning her to the Chesepeake Bay. Three times in 2023 delivered/crewed on a Bali 4.8 cateraman (48') from Connecticut and Chesapeake Bay area to Nassau Bahamas for charter service. Duties included night/day watch while underway, helmsman, deckhand, navigation, engine maintenance, watermaker service and of course cleaning and some cooking.
As a U.S. Navy Veteran I have approximately 15K nautical miles aboard ship and approximately 2500 NM as a civilian. I also served 4 years as a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.
I AM YOUR GUY IF:
1. You want a capable crew member who understands that there is more to learn but willing to help with the skills I do have.
2. An honest and dependable crew member
3. A crew member who will try in every way to make your job easier and adhere to the needs of the boat and other crew members as a whole.
I AM NOT YOUR GUY IF:
1. You are looking for someone to party with.
2. You are lonely and want to share your vacation
3. I am to be a buffer between you and your significant other
4. You have no idea what you are doing as a boat owner/captain. I am always willing to teach what I do know but you are the captain...not me.
