Ahoy !
My name is Francois (28) and I have started my slow trip back to Europe from New Zealand by sailing instead of flying. Why ?
I am fascinated by using natural power to travel (I am a glider pilot). Flying goes too fast and I feel frustrated for not seeing the World variation. The trip is for me as important as the destination, or even more. I am currently sailing to Noumea on a 44ft cutter and should arrive around the 26th – 27th of April.
Beside this, I did few regattas in NZ on a 40ft sloop and also some sailboat maintenance. I am still an amateur but I already and deeply love the connection with the ocean. My goal is actually to buy/restore my own little boat in Australia to live on and get more experience while working in the marine industry. Hopefully I could swap to a pocket cruiser later on and reach Asia with.
My only priority is to arrive in Australia before the 14th of May.
I am originally a mechanical engineer in aircraft industry. I left Europe almost 3 years ago to discover the real World by myself. Since, I hitch-hiked to Mongolia, crossed China by train, rode 10,000km by motorcycle in South-East Asia and spent 2 years in New-Zealand mainly working in construction. My idea is now to slowly reach the Asian continent, get back my motorcycle in Vietnam and ride to Europe by crossing the South of Asia and the Middle-East.
Please, let me know if my project fit with your and so, share some adventure.
