Dear Shipmates

Introduction

Volunteer Live aboard Marine Engineer / Mechanic / Team Lead needed ASAP to keep accessibility and off-grid refit moving forward during Covid! Two on-site part-time volunteer assistants to help you and myself designing and coordinating to support by video call.

Skills we need:
- aluminum welding (equipment on-board)
- marine AC & DC electrical installation under the guidance of disabled Electrical Engineer
- carpentry & plumbing

We are a 501(c)3 Nonprofit all-volunteer organization changing perspectives from vulnerable dependency to self-determination with emphasis on wounded veterans and disabled youth of all ages

All crew should expect to take turns in the galley and share cleaning responsibilities. Posting photos and videos of progress is highly encouraged and appreciated!

Near future opportunities to cruise the Great Lakes, Erie Canal, Florida, Bahamas, and US East Coast post covid. Opportunity in Nov. to transition to 2nd vessel in Florida ready to cruise, a 62' Pluckebaum Motor Yacht. We have successfully cruised 50% of America's Great Loop pre-covid with power wheelchairs and pioneered an accessible route demonstrating the seemingly impossible to be possible!

You should have a lust for adventure and open-minded, easy-going personality, with a desire to help others and improve the world. We will be implementing modifications to the vessel to make it 100% wheelchair friendly and fully inclusive. Director is a quadriplegic man who uses an electric power wheelchair after a forced landing plane crash 16 years ago due to engine failure after takeoff. Has been designing and creating solutions to empower mobility impaired individuals through greater independence for the last 15 years including working with Veterans Administration and other orgs throughout the country.

You will likely have your own cabin through spring 2021 with 2-3 persons

75' Darling Motor Yacht and a 62' Pluckebaum Baymaster Motor Yacht. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving mobility impaired disabled wheelchair users from youth to elderly including wounded warrior veterns. We will be cruising, circumnavigating the Eastern continental United States and Canada over 6000 miles on America's Great Loop.

We are doing something big that gets people's attention to build more awareness around access to home care for disabled and aging focused on Inspiration, Education, Motivation, and building Public Awareness. Now pioneer wheelchair friendly route and proof it is possible and safe. In the future we will be stopping at Veterans Administration facilities, Hospitals, and rehabilitation centers partnering with local nonprofit organizations around the country. Opportunities for disabled individuals and their spouse or caregivers to come aboard and have a bucket list cruising experience is combined with day trip events organized through local nonprofit partner organizations for groups of 10-15 wheelchairs and their guests while getting the local media's attention. In major cities therapists and other professionals will be able invited aboard to see the latest in independent living technologies.

Cruising America's Great Loop involves stopping at many cities and spending the week, smaller towns for provisioning or majority of the United States national parks. We've already cruised frrom Louisville Kentucky on the Ohio River to the Tennessee River and the land between the Lakes, south through Alabama on the Tombigbee canal to Mobile Alabama, then west to New Orleans and now back east across the Gulf and south along Florida's Western coast to Fort Myers, Key West and up Florida's East coast by Miami to Georgia. Now we will be transiting to Chicago to prep, modify another vessel and bring her through the Great Lakes to New York via the Erie Canal and Hudson River and down the East Coast ICW by fall of 2019.
