Looking for sailing opportunities Oct. 2023

here’s a little about me …

Learning to be a better sailor and making wonderful memories are my goals.

When home I day-race race on a C&C 30' and cruise on a friend's Beaneteau 32'. Just back from 40 days Tahiti to Tonga. 2022 I completed a 10-day/24hr sailing passage in the Salty Dawg Rally USA Virginia to Antigua West Indies (44' Antares cat - November), BC to Ketchikan Alaska (43' C&C custom built racer - June) and 4-weeks USA FL/Bahamas (43' Hylas - February). In 2021 I cruised BC coastline (32' Douglas) and crewed a delivery Panama-Acapulco (40yr old Freeport 36’ with much marina time due to mechanical issues). Our family had a 27' Thunderbird in my teens.

I do not have food preferences and am experienced provisioning/cooking. I've been an outdoor guide and a freshwater biologist specializing in ecological restoration. Wilderness first aid trained (advanced medical/treat/package), and pretty knowledgeable re strain/injury. I am a cheerful person, easy to get along with.

I am calm and resourceful in a crisis. Safety is a prime concern. I'm resourceful, capable and helpful, and enjoy contributing to problem solving/troublehooting. I’ve experience with combustion engines (gas 2 & 4 stroke, diesel), pulled apart pumps and fixed minor issues aboard. I've general vessel maintenance experience (e.g. chrome & fiberglass polish, wood sand/stain/oil, caulk leaks), also hull on the hard. I have some canvas experience (Sailrite).

I can be just about anywhere with two weeks notice as I am semi retired and a keen sense of adventure.

I grew up in Vancouver Canada. I do not have certification/formal sailing training but am eager to learn. Have sailing unaided by autohelm, 24 hr. sailing, persevered through mechanical issues, been dead in the water and awaiting tow, and survived 54 knot gusts in Tehuantepec, so experienced but through the school of hard knocks.
