Hi,
I am looking to learn from an experienced shellback who wants to take me in on their adventure, and to help facilitate a smooth and safe and pleasant journey on the sea in return. I am especially looking to gain experience in Arctic regions, including ice and celestial navigation. Also: I want to learn how to operate historical sailboats.
Always interested in finding kindred spirits to charter together. In addition to crewing, I also skipper myself and look for crew mates with experience, or people who are interesting in forming a flotilla, preferably in colder waters / higher latitudes. Or, just for fun and the educational experience, people interested in racing together with me (and my friends).
I started dinghi sailing when I was 10, sailed the 470 olympic boat class quite a bit, but changed to windsurfing during my teens. I restarted my sailing career in 2019, logged more than 3000 miles in different areas of the world since then, almost 500 miles (1 month) as a skipper myself.
As a crew member, I sailed under the command of 9 different skippers so far (2 from Findacrew) and appreciated learning not only from their strengths, but also from their weaknesses or mistakes. I feel comfortable in difficult situations or heavy weathers, won‘t panic and will stay calm and relaxed, and so far have experienced storm gusts up to 42 knots while out on the water. I have experience and I am comfortable with all positions in the hierarchy on a boat, as long as the main ingredient of the relationship is mutual respect.
