I have experience with boats in work and recreational capacities and was the sole deckhand/chef on a high-end fishing charter boat in Alaska from May 2019 to October 2019. Prior to my season in Alaska I completed a passage as volunteer crew on a 15 meter motor sailing vessel, acting as an integral part of a 3 person team moving the boat from New Zealand to Fiji in June 2018. I then spent five weeks living aboard a 12 meter sailboat extensively sailing in Fiji. I was also an operations coordinator for a yacht syndication company in Sydney, managing three teams caring for fifteen investment motor yacts and 150 investment clients. My introduction to boats came when I was hired and trained to be a boat driving instructor for a rental marina on Lake Powell, Utah, USA, where I facilitated driving lessons to staff and clients on everything from PWC’s to 75 foot long house boats. In my free time I also built a tiny boat, a personal skin-on-frame Aleutian kayak, or, ’baidarka.’ I gained my STCW 95 through Bluewater Yachting in Antibes, France in October 2017 and completed the ASA 101 and 103 sailing courses in May 2022 on the Chesapeake Bay. I sailed the passage from the Bahamas to Brunswick GA in May 2022 and south on the ICW from Newport RI to Annapolis MD in Sept 2022. May / June 2023 I sailed from Puerto Rico to Dominica (6 days) and then Dominica across the Atlantic to the Azores (21 days) on a 45 ft cutter, team of 3 sailing. Most recently I sailed up the west coast of Ireland and over to Scotland.
I am currently based in Charlottesville, Virginia and I am always looking to get out anytime day sailing or on short trips if reasonable drive from me.
I am not in a financial position to contribute large amounts to shared expenses. Bit of food sure, not fuel, dock fees, etc, so please consider that. I prefer situations where on board expenses are all covered and I'm happy to work to make that a fair trade.
Thank you so much for reading! Lets go sailing!
