Introduction
I will be arriving in Malaysia soon (20 Nov 2015). I am looking for a boat that can get me closer to Europa. Sail the strait of Malacca, like our forefathers :-), and maybe all the way to Africa. I can sail until the end of March, then I need to head home to prepare for the Mongol Rally. A rally from England to Mongolia in an old and crappy car!
A little about myself, my interests and my plans
I love adventure, it is that simple. I am working as a freelance web developer, which is great, because I can work for a couple of months and then do what I like best. Travelling the world. I spent three months in India, going to every corner, climbed the Himalayas in Nepal (Stunning!), hitchhiked through Thailand, bought a motor bike and drove through Vietnam, just to name a few things. Last year I set off on a freighter to cross the Atlantic ending up in Guadeloupe with my Dutch Grandma Bike. The trip was amazing (had a great time with the crew, mostly Filipino's) but I had to ditch my bike because there were only highways :-) From there I travelled Dominica, before I flew to Panama and travel up to Mexico. Met a girl, flew to Canada, stayed there for a couple of months and now we are here, on the doorstep of a new adventure, hopefully on your boat! I have a great intrest in history, especially the age of exploration. So I my travel stories are boring, I can always bug you with some maritime history ;-)
My motivation and reasons to crew on a boat
We might know every corner of the planet, because we (as humans) have been there or we mapped it, it still feels to me like a great new discovery every time I go and see a new country. This is for me the reason to be alive, discover! And when it comes to discovery, sailing seems only naturally to me. I mean where would we be without the Portugese, Spaniards, Dutch, English, etc, if they didn't sail the world like I want to do now!
