Just me, I'm not bringing any crewmates

Dear Shipmates

Introduction

In love with the ocean since childhood, I spent my youth years snorkeling and scuba diving along the coasts of Italy and its islands. I discovered sailing in 2004, got my skipper's licence and since then have accumulated over 10,000 miles of navigation in the Mediterranean and Atlantic, as crew at first and then, for 4 years, as captain on my boat. After a few years spent enjoying the experience and stretching my limits, having found out that I much prefer being a crew member than a captain, in 2015 I sold my boat, so now I am a free floating sailor again.
Italian is my native language, I also speak fluent English, basic French, imaginative Spanish and obviously, being Italian, I am a pro at hand gesturing and body language :-). Recently I started studying German, mainly because both of my grown up sons live and work in Austria. I am trying hard... and would love to sail with a german speaking captain or crew members - Happy to practice international language sharing :-D
I share ownership of a large farming business, but my true passion is travelling and sharing my knowledge of nature and culture; after working for many years as a nature guide and group leader, I opted to spend more time at home to be able to take better care of the family business. I am still free and willing to sail, preferably during the warm Mediterranean season, for periods spanning from 1 to 4 weeks.
I am a joyful, sunny and considerate free spirit, keen on discovering as much as possible of our beautiful world.
I am fully vaccinated against COVID.

Since 2003 I have sailed as first mate/deckhand/delivery crew/hostess/cook, on 33-54" monohulls and catamarans with several different captains around Italy, in the Mediterranean and Atlantic.
In 2010 I purchased a Wauquiez Centurion 38 in Spain, transferred it to Italy and sailed it with friends, family and FaC members around Sardinia and the Baleares mainly in the spring and summer. In 2015 I transferred my boat to Chioggia, and put it up for sale.
As a result... I am now boat less again, and looking for crewing opportunities :-)
I am familiar with all aspects of coastal and offshore navigation, comfortable with night shifts and winter sailing, not affected by seasickness.
In 2012 I did my first Atlantic crossing as crew, on a 54" ketch from Lanzarote to Saint Lucia and up to Guadeloupe. The following winter I did it again, this time sailing from Mindelo - Cape Verde to Martinique. I was crewing on a 42" mono hull with 2 friends and happily fed them all the way across, in spite of the absence of a fridge and relentless rolling.
I love going with the wind, stretching my limits, exploring new places and meeting people. I prefer the quiet of a night at anchor to hanging out in marinas, although I do like docking in small harbors, visiting villages, markets and historical sites and hiking on coastal trails. I am not afraid of working hard, nor of getting my hands dirty.
I value friendship and comradery above all virtues, and appreciate intelligent conversation, good reading and good humour.
Cooking - mediterranean and international style - is my hobby and passion, which I cultivate with gusto both on land and at sea.
When not sailing I work independently as a nature guide; I have a biology degree, a herbalist diploma, 3 y. training as family counselor and for over 20 years have been leading groups of children and adults on hikes, tours and excursions. My farming background has given me solidity and manual skills as well as a keen interest in ecology, plants, healthy food and all traditional/cultural highlights of a territory.
I have an Italian skipper's licence with commercial endorsement as deckhand, LRC radiotelephony licence and BLS qualification, as well as an ISAF Offshore certificate and HAM licence.

My motivation and reasons to crew on a boat

have a holidayshare experiencevisit remote placesseek adventuresustainable traveltravel

I wish to crew because... I feel really happy at sea, love exploring the world with the wind as my propeller and in the company of good friends.
I am fit and healthy, relaxed, cool headed and good natured, respectful of people's privacy and opinions, frank and direct, and I love a good laugh.
I am NOT grumpy, strongly opinionated about politics and/or religion, easily discouraged or depressed, pushy or abusive.
I am NOT an expert mechanic, electrician, plumber or radio technician - in fact I have no idea how to fix things on board, but will gladly follow instructions and stick my little fingers wherever necessary to tighten bolts, hold cables and hoses in place and retrieve fallen objects.
I do not smoke nor have any other addiction.
I understand the difference between clear/sharp orders and verbal abuse when on deck, and will readily obey the former, but will not accept the latter.
I am in love with the sea, which I fear and respect, and will sail under all circumstances if I trust my captain and the boat.
I have extensive cooking experience, from selecting and buying pantry supplies to preparing tasty stuff. Give me a pressure cooker and I will feed you a hot nutritious meal in any weather/sea condition!
I am a capable hostess/deckhand/watchkeeper and good team worker. I am able to work under stress and sleep deprivation, and usually do not suffer seasickness.
