Dear Shipmates

Introduction

I am following the solo “Mini Globe Race” around the world in December 2024 from Lagos to Lanzarote, Antigua, Panama, Tahiti, Fiji etc & would love sailing opportunities on the way. I was involved in the “Ocean Globe Race” as a volunteer in Auckland 2024. Age is only a number when you have a youthful outlook, energy, fitness & positive attitude for life. Tennis, dancing, 8 mile walks, bell ringing.are my shore activities. My glass is always half full! I am fully vacinated, healthy, physically & mentally equipped for offshore passages, relaxed & friendly, don't suffer from seasickness & remain calm in unexpected circumstances. Boat sitting Hallberg Rassy in the Azores & Beneteau in Australia. Many years racing in Australia. 56,000nm cruising & deliveries as RYA Comp Crew. Involved in Disabled Sailing when in Australia.
“29 SEPTEMBER 2024
Today is my “Eleven Year Anniversary” since I started sailing around the world - crewing, yacht deliveries, racing, cruising & working as a cook on a 95’ super yacht!
From Anguilla to Australia, Borneo to Bahamas, Caribbean to Christmas Island, Madagascar to Monaco, San Blas to Sri Lanka & lots more in between.
I’ve sailed on yachts with two, three, four & five crew, everyone taking turns at every boat job, night watches of 3-4 hours. Experienced smouldering smoke, flooding, Pan Pans, furling problems, engine failure, snow, have been a line handler on the Panama Canal, etc. Taken over 20,000 photos & covered over 56,000nm in my sailing career.
Yachts have been from small to large – 24’ Melges racing yacht up to a 70’ Hylas & an 80’ A-Frame catamaran.  Weather has been kind to me with one of the highest winds in the Chesapeake River at 48kts.
I’ve enjoyed crossing the Atlantic Ocean West to East twice, the Pacific Panama to Australia on the World ARC and Lombok to Madagascar on the Oyster World Rally.
The most amazing part has been meeting fascinating people & exploring new countries & cultures - over 85 countries.

My plan is to follow the solo “Mini Globe Race” 2024 around the world to explore and meet incredible like minded people.

I am a fun, easy going person who just loves sailing, discovering new cultures, meeting people and exploring the world.

My career has involved banking, secretarial, IT consultant & owning and operating an "Award Winning Bed and Breakfast" in Sydney. I have also worked in hospitality for a Luxury Lodge, the Hyatt & Accor hotels and have been the Office Administrator of a yacht club.

My interests include sailing, swimming, snorkeling, sewing (possibly sails, definitely flags), cooking, organizing events (eg. 'Crossing the Equator' Ceremony), meeting people, researching places to visit and learning about different cultures, cycling, yoga, dancing, trivia nights, tennis, golf and table tennis.

Previous member of Coast Guard Australia & have their Competent Crew & First Aid certificates.

My motivation and reasons to crew on a boat

have a holidayshare experiencevisit remote placesseek adventureface challengesfind a soulmate/partnergain experiencelive off the gridtravel

My motivation is to have fun and continue discovering new places. I love the sailing life, freedom and sheer escapism it offers. I enjoy helping people sail their yacht.

I live in Australia or England & have Australian and English passports with an American B1/B2 10 year visa.

I am respectful of your yacht to keep it undamaged, clean & tidy.

The qualities I can bring to a boat are patience and confidence, my hospitality background ensures I keep the galley and fridges spotless and attend to any friends/guests needs, cooking, preparing inventory, provisioning the yacht, organising food lockers and storage of food, monitoring food usage and rotation, repairing flags, navigation skills including Navionics and Garmin, preparing rosters, cataloging manuals and spare parts and preparing documentation for ports of call.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Christine
